Manufacturing Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join the Huntingwood site.

Reporting to the Manufacturing Reliability Coordinator the Manufacturing Engineer will take ownership of line performance through strategic planning, continuous improvement, and innovative plans around issues that affect line performance. This role will also work on plans to support automation and robotics to drive line and plant performance and be proactive in reducing the duration and frequency of downtime through early detection. The successful candidate will have a strong Electrical background, with experience in PLC ladder diagrams and programming of HMIs.

 

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Developing continuous improvement and innovative plans around automation and robotics to drive line/plant performance.
  • Analyse performance of relevant areas of responsibility and develop plans for improving efficiency and reliability of the work area.
  • Provide a safe system of work, necessary direction and spare parts to ensure timely completion of work.
  • Engage with Team Leaders, Operators, Engineering and Trades teams in order to understand online performance, provide opportunities to coach and train with the goal of improving line performance and knowledge base of Manufacturing Operators and Team Leaders.
  • Leading and participating in CI activities and teams. Adhoc activities including support of NPD, stay up to date with technology etc.
  • Preparation, submission and management of small-scale improvement projects (eg Capex, PMs capital, spare parts etc.)
  • Manage activities within constraints of site Engineering budgets, raising significant expense items and variations.

Ingredients for success

 

  • Relevant Trade or Engineering Qualification
  • Background in operations management in an FMCG environment
  • FMCG Equipment experience and/or knowledge
  • Project Management experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Solid Team facilitation skills
  • Creativity, Innovation and Perseverance
  • Knowledge of Continuous Improvement Tools (OEE, Reduce Variation, SMED, 5S)
  • Conversant with MS Project, Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SAP, AutoCAD, and Inventor
  • Experience in applying problem-solving tools both at an individual level and within a team
  • environment
