The Data Governance Specialist (DGS) is a strategic role in identifying, connecting, cleaning and operationalising Business Insight & Consumer Insight. The DGS plays a pivotal role within the Data and Analytics (DNA) team working closely with IT & Data Visualisation Specialist to connect data to the business.



The DGS is responsible for building and applying data governance framework including; the management of data, operating model, data policies and standards as well as the application of clearly defined data management definitions for use across The Arnott’s Group. The primary objective of this role is to improve the quality and portability of TAG data within our core systems (Data lake – Snowflake) whilst introducing an enterprise taxonomy and data-linkage across the business and systems. The positions purpose is to:

  • To establish and embed formal Data Governance processes within our existing and future strategic projects.
  • To identify areas of opportunity with regards to data quality, and lead initiatives to resolve long-standing quality issues.
  • Provide expert consultative guidance in areas such as (but not limited to) data migration, document management and data quality.
  • To help build a robust data governance framework to drive a demonstrable improvement in data quality across all in-scope data.
  • To build and futureproof Data Lake (Snowflake) via 3rd party strategic partner.


Ingredients for Success

  • The ideal applicant will have a well-rounded strategic and commercial understanding, in addition to an in-depth knowledge of data collection, storage and consumption best practises.
  • To succeed, the role requires dynamic technical and strategic thinking ability, using strong problem-solving skills and advanced analytical techniques to find world-class solutions.
  • +2yrs of building reports within Power BI
  • +2yrs of working with Data Lakes (i.e. Snowflake)
  • Experience with deep operational, financial and transaction analytics.
  • An ability to join the dots with data to maximise data leverage across the organisation.
  • Ability to use innovative approaches to Data & Analytics where necessary to overcome data limitations.
  • Experience presenting to and influencing senior management to implement recommended reporting templates and standardisation initiatives.
