The Opportunity

As our National Business Manager, you will be responsible for creating and delivering joint category growth plans with our customer for value creation to achieve sales targets, market share and sustainable growth over time.

This position holds responsibility for the P&L for a significant portion of Arnott’s business and working with our Customer will deliver against key demand drivers of range, promotions, shelf, and bringing to life key activations within the category. In addition, it partners closely with the internal Category team to deliver successful category reviews across the portfolio.

The Accountabilities

  • Deliver strong financial and business outcomes: own the P&L for the portfolio; in negotiation with customer, set and achieve sales growth and share targets, leveraging data and insights to drive mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Deliver against key objectives via understanding key drivers, management of risks and opportunities and working closely with cross functional teams via formalised Integrated Business Planning process.
  • Build world-class partnership with the customer to drive joint value creation. Leverage internal stakeholders, extended commercial team and cross functional partners to unlock opportunities for growth.
  • Develop and implement category/promotional plans and co-lead the category review process with category managers.
  • Oversee the implementation of the agreed promotional strategy within P&L guardrails including trade spend rates, sales growth targets, maximum tactic frequency and market share/shelf share ambition.
  • Lead and develop a small team to provide career succession and capability for the future of the individuals and the Arnott’s group.

The Ingredients for Success

Just like you can’t make a Tim Tam without chocolate, there are a few essential ingredients we need for this role:

  • 5-10 years’ commercial experience (national account management/sales management) within a tier 1 FMCG company, managing relationships at a Head Office level with a large chain retailer.
  • High commercial and financial acumen; a strong knowledge of P&L mechanics and how to maximise through mix.
  • Exceptional communication, relationship building and influencing ability, including the ability to lead cross-functionally to deliver to customer requirements.
  • Experience with at least one insight data driven tool (eg Quantium Checkout / Synergy / IRI / Nielsen) and telling a story based on data; intermediate Excel skills.
  • Resilience and the ability to solve challenging problems with win-win outcomes.
