About the Role:
As The Day Shift Manager you will step into a critical leadership role, responsible for overseeing all operational activities during the day shift. As the senior leader on site during this time, the Shift Manager ensures smooth and efficient execution of daily operations by providing strong leadership, clear coordination, and sound decision-making. This role is central to upholding safety, quality, and performance standards while fostering a high-performance culture focused on continuous improvement.
Beyond managing the day shift, this role also has full accountability for Ingredient Services and Inventory Control across all three shifts. This includes meeting area targets, managing budgets, and driving a culture of accountability, teamwork, and operational excellence. The Day Shift Manager also serves as the primary escalation point for any operational issues or emergency situations that arise during the shift.

What your days looks like:
- Lead day shift operations to deliver the site production plan and key performance targets across safety, quality, service, cost, and people.
- Supervise and coach team leaders, ensuring effective labour utilisation, prioritisation of activities, and compliance with site performance management.
- Act as the primary operational decision-maker and escalation point for safety, quality, and production issues; lead site response in emergencies.
- Drive continuous improvement and cost reduction through the APEX master plan and short-term strategic initiatives (6–12 months).
- Oversee Ingredient Services and Inventory Control across all shifts, ensuring delivery of area targets, budget management, and a culture of accountability and teamwork.
The Ingredients for Success:
- Minimum 6 years in manufacturing leadership, including 3 at a senior level; food industry and unionised environment experience preferred.
- Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop high-performing frontline teams.
- Strong knowledge of production planning, lean manufacturing, safety, and quality systems.
- Skilled in strategy development, continuous improvement, and problem solving in fast-paced, resource-constrained settings.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence across levels.
