The Arnott's Group has an exciting newly created role of HSE Advisor for our growing New Zealand business. Supporting the Health, Safety and Environmental requirements for our 180 Degrees Biscuit Manufacturing business (based in Glendene), our National field sales team and our head office (located in Newmarket), your ability to empower and continue to grow a proactive safety culture will be key to your success.


Reporting to the HSE Manager, your responsibilities include:


  • Identifying, assessing and resolving key HSE issues and developing short- and long-term interventions
  • Maintain and support the use of our HSE systems such as myOSH, ChemWatch and Rapid Global 
  • Conduct risk assessments in consultation with stakeholders for new or modified plant equipment, processes and substances, ensuring identified risks are effectively managed
  • Ongoing development, review and maintenance of site HSE & Injury Prevention management systems
  • Support the development and implementation of our Annual HSE Improvement Plans driving continuous HSE improvement
  • Coordinate HSE committee activities and mentor and coach our amazing team of Health and Safety Representatives
  • Development & delivery HSE training packages

What ingredients do you need to be successful?

  • 2 - 4 years’ experience within a HSE role
  • Relevant WHS qualification
  • Experience within FMCG industry is desired but not essential
  • Good understanding of HSE Management systems is essential
  • Management Systems Auditor certification preferred but not essential
  • An individual who has a Continuous Improvement mindset and is not afraid to challenge the norm;
  • Ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels of the business
  • Ability to interpret legislation, codes of practice and corporate standards and apply requirements to real life shop floor situation
