About the Role:

Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role plays a critical part in safely and efficiently delivering daily production plans while driving a culture of quality, engagement and continuous improvement across the bakery team.

We’re seeking a hands-on, people-focused production leader to oversee day-to-day bakery operations, ensuring safety, quality, delivery and cost targets are consistently met. You’ll lead and motivate team on day shift, optimise labour and resources, and work closely with planning, HSE and quality teams to ensure smooth, compliant and high-performing operations.

This role is ideal for a proactive leader who enjoys being on the floor, thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, and takes pride in building a capable team while continuously improving processes and performance.

This position will be based at our Avondale site.

 

What your days look like:

• Leading daily bakery operations to ensure production plans are delivered safely, on time and to specification
• Championing a strong safety culture, completing monthly safety activities and partnering with HSE to drive improvements
• Monitoring quality, hygiene and GMP standards across the bakery, ensuring full compliance at all times
• Managing labour and rosters to optimise productivity while balancing skills, breaks and demand
• Driving team engagement, performance, training and competency development across the shift
• Supporting and leading new product trials, providing operational input and post-trial feedback
• Identifying waste, conducting root cause analysis and implementing sustainable continuous improvement initiatives
• Leading daily team meetings focused on Safety, Quality and Delivery performance

 

The Ingredients for Success:

Just like you can’t bake great crackers without the right mix, there are a few essential ingredients we need for this role:

• Proven experience in a production or operations leadership role within FMCG Manufacturing
• Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and develop frontline teams                                     

• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage teams and collaborate cross-functionally 
• Solid planning and problem-solving skills with the ability to respond quickly to changing priorities
• Strong knowledge of Safety, Quality, GMP and hygiene standards in a manufacturing environment
• A continuous improvement mindset with experience in waste reduction and root cause analysis
