Head of People - Supply Chain
North Strathfield, NSW, AU, 2137
There’s a person behind every Tim Tam, every box of Shapes and every Vita-Weat.
Today, we sell 300 million products each year across 40+ countries, with more than 1,000 products spanning biscuits, crackers, snacks, soups, sauces, beverages and more. Behind that is 1,600 people who power our manufacturing network across ANZ.
Our Supply Chain network is the backbone of The Arnott’s Group, and it’s at a meaningful point of change. We’re investing in capability, operational performance and network optimisation so the business is stronger, more consistent and better set up for what’s next.
We’re hiring a Head of People & Culture – Supply Chain to lead the people agenda through this next phase: lifting leadership capability, strengthening workforce sustainability, improving consistency across sites, and partnering the business through a complex industrial and commercial landscape.
About the role
As Head of People & Culture – Supply Chain, you’ll partner closely with the Chief Supply Chain Officer and Chief People Officer, to shape the people strategy across a large, multi-site operational workforce.
You’ll lead a team of ~5 experienced People Partners and focus them on the work that materially moves the business: stronger partnering, better leadership, smarter workforce planning, and more consistent people standards across the network. You’ll do that inside a clear operating model, collaborating with Talent & Capability, Reward, ER/IR, Systems & Operations. You own the relationship, the strategy, and the translation of that work into business outcomes on the ground.
Your mission
Your job is to shape a higher-performing, more sustainable supply chain organisation. That means lifting frontline leadership capability, building a stronger workforce plan, navigating a complex IR landscape with confidence, and embedding a People function the business sees as commercially essential, not operationally reactive. Just as importantly, it means building an environment where people feel clear, capable, stretched and included, because we believe belonging and performance should reinforce each other.
What success looks like
- The CSCO and leadership team see you as a trusted strategic partner
- A stronger, more consistent partnering model is in place across sites, with clearer standards and better leadership support
- Frontline leadership capability is visibly stronger, with leaders better equipped to lead performance, people and change
- Workforce planning is sharper: better visibility of critical capability, succession risk, retention pressure and speed to competence
- IR and employee risk is managed earlier, more consistently and with greater credibility across the network
- People outcomes are stronger and more defensible in the data ; from engagement and retention through to labour effectiveness
Ingredients for success
- You’ve built your career in operational environments where performance, labour, leadership and culture are tightly linked — ideally across manufacturing, supply chain or FMCG
- You’ve led and lifted a team, building both capability and commercial credibility
- You bring deep enterprise agreement and industrial relations experience in a multi-site, unionised environment, and can make sound calls under pressure
- You connect people decisions to business outcomes and are comfortable using data to strengthen the argument
- You’ve shaped workforce planning, organisation design or change in environments where execution matters as much as
- You have the presence to influence from executives to delegates, and a degree in HR, business or similar is helpful but not essential
The kind of person who will thrive here
- You operate with humility and authenticity, and lead through others
- You can actively partner and challenge with executives to drive the right outcomes
- You bring order to ambiguity, and a plan when the picture's messy
- You build leaders, not dependence
- You're genuinely progressive about people. You believe belonging drives performance, and you've proven it somewhere real and hard
We're one of Australia’s most loved manufacturers and we’ve been creating delicious moments for over 160 years, but this role is about what comes next: how we keep lifting capability, performance and culture in a business with both heritage and ambition.
For the right leader, this is rare senior-level scope: a seat at two leadership tables, direct partnership with the CSCO and CPO, a genuine mandate to shape a large operational workforce, and enough complexity to make the role meaningful. It’s a chance to build something that lasts; commercially, culturally and operationally.
