About the Role:
Our Queensland Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Advisor will provide technical advice on HSE matters to all employees, supervisors, and managers, ensuring compliance with relevant health and safety legislation, policies, and procedures. You will develop and implement effective risk control measures, ensuring safe work practices are always followed. The role is specifically designed for FMCG.
In this role you will conduct regular workplace inspections, audits, and safety walks to ensure compliance with HSE standards and identify areas for improvement. You will also deliver and coordinate HSE training programs to employees at all levels, including safety inductions, emergency procedures, and safe work practices.
This role will be required to wear a uniform provided at the site for Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)_ requirements, and it will also be required to support the Afternoon and Night shift (2-10 pm at a frequency to be determined). The role will be based at our Virginia manufacturing site.
What your days look like:
- Provide technical advice on HSE matters to all employees, supervisors, and managers, ensuring compliance with relevant health and safety legislation, policies, and procedures
- Support incident investigations and provide recommendations to prevent recurrence
- Management and Maintenance of all HSE systems (inc. Rapid Global, Contractor Management, Chemwatch, Chemical Management, MYOSH Incident Management)
- Assist in identifying workplace hazards and conducting risk assessments
- Develop and implement effective risk control measures, ensuring safe work practices are always followed
- Promote a strong safety culture through education and awareness initiatives
- Lead or support investigations into incidents, ensuring root causes are identified and corrective actions are taken
- Support the development and testing of emergency response plans, including fire, evacuation, and first aid protocols
The Ingredients for Success:

- Relevant work experience within a manufacturing, industrial or similar high-risk environment
- Knowledge of Australian WHS legislation, codes of practice and relevant standards
- Demonstrated experience in the WHS reporting systems and incident management processes
- Sound knowledge of risk assessment tools and safety auditing systems
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills with ability to engage and influence employees at all levels.
