About the Role:

 

We are seeking a seasoned HSEQ Manager to lead and inspire a robust Health Safety, Environment and Quality culture across our large-scale FMCG site, home to a 700-strong workforce. Reporting directly to the Director of People & Food Safety, you’ll be a key member of our Site Leadership Team, leveraging established frameworks to enhance safety, quality, and environmental standards across our operations.

In this role, you’ll provide strategic oversight and be a key decision-maker in proactive risk management, guiding initiatives to promote a safety-first mindset. This leadership position requires a collaborative leader with the vision and expertise to drive continuous improvement, ensuring best practices are embraced and adhered to across the site.

What your days looks like:

 

  • Drive the execution of a strategic People and Food Safety plan to mitigate business risks, aligning with organizational and industry best practices.
  • Lead comprehensive risk assessments and collaborate with site teams to identify and proactively address potential people and food safety hazards, updating procedures to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Collaborate with project leaders on safety and quality integrations within new plant setups and facility modifications, ensuring seamless, safe transitions.
  • Proactively engage with regulatory bodies, including WorkSafe Queensland, for both compliance matters and incident reporting.
  • Operate autonomously to advance continuous improvement in risk management, achieving key strategic safety priorities for The Arnott’s Group.
  • Through your hands-on expertise, maintain the Virginia factory as a benchmark for safety and productivity, embodying Arnott’s commitment to excellence.

 

The Ingredients for Success:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Food Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 7+ years of in-depth experience applying the Workers Compensation Act and regulatory compliance standards in complex environments.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, with outstanding organizational skills; proactive, independent, and collaborative team player with proven leadership capabilities and dedication to fostering a safe, engaging workplace.
  • Exceptional proficiency in policy and procedural evaluations, ensuring adherence to industry and organizational standards.
  • Excellent communicator with refined interpersonal skills; adept at analysing data, identifying trends, and making data-informed decisions. Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software for enhanced operational oversight.
