The Opportunity

We currently have an opportunity for a Trade Waste Operator & Handyman to join our team on a 6-month full-time contract, with the potential to extend. In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for the effective operation, maintenance, and compliance of trade waste systems, while also supporting general maintenance across the site. This role is day shift - Monday to Friday.


About the Role:


As our Trade Waste Operator & Handyman, you’ll play a key role in keeping our site running safely, efficiently, and in line with regulatory requirements. You’ll take ownership of day-to-day trade waste operations while also stepping in to support a variety of handyman and maintenance tasks, helping ensure the site remains safe, functional, and well-presented for everyone.

What your day looks like:

  • Operate, monitor, and maintain trade waste systems (DAF, screw press, pits)
  • Complete inspections, sampling, and basic testing to ensure compliance
  • Troubleshoot issues (blockages, leaks, faults) and act quickly to resolve
  • Carry out general maintenance tasks (plumbing, patching, painting, repairs)
  • Support installation, replacement, and upkeep of site fixtures and equipment
  • Conduct routine checks to identify and address safety or maintenance issues

 

Ingredients for Success:

  • Experience working with trade waste systems or similar plant equipment
  • Strong hands-on maintenance skills across general handyman tasks
  • Solid understanding of safety, compliance, and environmental standards
  • Proactive problem solver with the ability to work independently
  • Clear communicator with a collaborative, team-focused approach
  • Reliable, organised, and takes pride in maintaining a safe, tidy site
  • Forklift License and EWP License required
  • Overtime available
