Department:  Field Sales - ANZ
Location:

Newmarket, AUK, NZ, 1023

Job Function:  Sales - ANZ
Employment Type:  Full time
The Arnott's Group | Dunedin, New Zealand

We're looking for a commercially minded, relationship-focused Territory Manager to join our high-performing New Zealand Field Sales team on a 9-month fixed term contract.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of an established territory across Otago, South Canterbury and Central Otago, partnering with some of New Zealand's most important grocery customers while representing a portfolio of iconic brands loved by consumers every day.

From Dunedin through to Oamaru, Timaru, Twizel and Tekapo, you'll be responsible for building strong customer relationships, driving in-store execution and leading a team of merchandisers to deliver outstanding results.

Whether you're an experienced Territory Manager, FMCG Sales Representative, Assistant Store Manager or a commercially minded retail professional looking for your next challenge, this role offers the opportunity to build valuable experience within one of the region's most recognised FMCG businesses.

The opportunity

This role has become available as a temporary backfill for a highly valued team member currently on extended leave.

The territory is well established, with strong customer relationships across major grocery banners including New World, Pak'nSave, Four Square and Woolworths NZ.

You'll inherit a portfolio with significant potential, supported by an experienced leadership team that is invested in your success from day one. You'll work closely with Craig Panagiotidis, Zone Manager, who brings extensive FMCG and retail experience and is known for his hands-on, supportive leadership style.

The role combines customer management, sales execution and people leadership, giving you the opportunity to make a genuine impact across both customers and team performance.

What you'll lead

You'll take ownership of the end-to-end territory agenda, including:
  • Building strong relationships with store owners, buyers and store managers
  • Delivering promotional plans and commercial objectives across your customer portfolio
  • Negotiating displays, ranging opportunities and promotional activity
  • Driving distribution and speed-to-market execution for new product launches
  • Improving shelf presence, display compliance and in-store execution
  • Managing trade spend investments to deliver strong commercial outcomes
  • Leading, coaching and developing a team of six merchandisers
  • Presenting store-level business reviews and identifying growth opportunities
  • Managing a structured call cycle across approximately 25-30 stores throughout the territory
  • Bringing energy, accountability and commercial focus to every customer interaction

What success looks like

In your first few months, you'll have built strong relationships with customers and established credibility across your territory.

Store coverage will be back to expected service levels. New product launches will be landing successfully. Displays will be executed to a high standard and your merchandiser team will feel supported and engaged.

Over time, you'll continue strengthening customer partnerships, identifying growth opportunities and delivering consistent execution across the territory.

Most importantly, you'll help our brands win at the shelf while becoming a trusted partner to both customers and colleagues.
